Monash-Prato Writing Workshop 2025

Since 2018, the Faculty of Arts at Monash University has run a "PhD Writing & Publishing WorkshopLink opens in a new window" at its Prato Centre in Italy (with exceptions during COVID years). Warwick postgraduate researchers from the Faculty of Arts, alongside others from Monash and other international partners, are invited to participate in this four- (or five-day) residency. The doctoral training workshop is designed to provide expert advice regarding key strategies and approaches for writing high-quality journal articles and/or book chapters complemented with dedicated writing time and academic and peer feedback on writing progress.

From 3rd-6th June 2025, four of our Arts PGRs along with Professor David Lambert attended this year's workshop.

Here is what the students who attended the June 2025 workshop had to say:

"Thanks for the opportunity! This has been among the best experiences of the PhD".

"I greatly enjoyed this workshop and am very happy that I attended. It taught me a lot information about the writing and publishing which was valuable professional development for a future academic career. I was also grateful to meet staff and students from a range of different universities and background. I had thought it would be difficult to communicate across disciplines, but these challenges were ultimately very rewarding".

"This was a transformative experience, thank you very much!"
