This section included the preserved counties of Wales based on the counties created by the Local Government Act 1972 and used for local government and other purposes between 1974 and 1996. Working links will be added soon.


Carmarthen Museum

Oriel Ynys Môn, Anglesey

Royal Mint Museum, Llantrisant

They say 'The Royal Mint Museum has one of the finest collections of coins and related material in the world. It is a collection about how money is made and how the Royal Mint has evolved over the last 1100 years.'


Powysland Museum

They say 'in 1974 the running of the museum became the responsibility of Powys County Council, but during then 1980s it became obvious that the old building could no longer fulfil the requirements of a modern museum. The collection was duly moved to a former warehouse on the Montgomery Canal, which had been extensively but carefully renovated so as to retain its character whilst providing a secure and comfortable environment for the collection and visitors alike.'


Regimental Museum of The Royal Welsh

They say 'On display at the museum, for all to see, is one of the finest collections of military artefacts. These tell the story of a regiment that has participated in many of the great events of British History in the last 300 years.'

Cardiiff Story Museum
