skills session: Getting a Job Beyond the Academy

- Export as iCalendar
Location: Graduate Space, 4th floor extension, Humanities building

A chance for postgraduate students and ECFs to learn about and discuss routes into a career beyond the world of academia and how to maximise the chances of success. A panel of former CHM postgraduate students will talk about their paths into policy, heritage and advocacy work, and several successful application letters will be made available for analysis of the key points that made them succeed. There will be time for questions and discussion. This will be followed by a workshop session led by Dr Rebecca Noble which will help participants to clarify and communicate their aims and strengths when it comes to applying for their first job after graduation. Examples will come mainly from the field of history of medicine, but this session is likely to be of use to other students of history and other disciplines.

Tea and coffee will be provided.

Please register here if you would like to attend.
