The history of emotions emerged as a field in the later 20^th century with scholars seeking to uncover the ways in which feeling has shaped the past. Over the past few decades studies have encompassed treatment of individual emotions including anger, fear, and sadness, as well as broader conceptions such as communities, regimes, and performance. Emotion has been applied as a lens to a wide range of historical topics including war, psychiatry, and the legal system. In recent years attention has increasingly turned to how we teach emotions history, and the importance of the emotions of the researcher.

This session brings together Professor Katie Barclay (Macquarie) and Professor Sasha Turner (John Hopkins) to discuss the incorporation of emotions methodology into teaching and the role of academic emotions.

All are welcome to attend. We especially welcome participation from PhD students and Early Career Researchers.
