The Network draws on the expertise and resources of each of these three institution, collaborating in an interdisciplinary exploration of the impact of cultural interchange on creativity during the early modern period. The Network will discuss issues related to the ‘Global Arts between East and West’ in seven seminars that will provide a platform for a major re-presentation of the historical cultural relationship between Europe and Asia.

The results will be accessible not just to an academic audience via refereed articles, but also via the public galleries in which the resulting ideas will be made material. We also hope that collaborative network established for the project will continue as a major forum for discussion and debate, influencing other permanent and temporary displays, and make possible the framing and teaching of new undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programmes.
