General editorship of books and digital resources:

European Festival Studies 1450–1700: six volumes have been published since 2013 under the general editorship of J.R. Mulryne, Margaret Shewring and Margaret M. McGowan. In 2018 Marie-Claude Canova-Green joined the team of general editors. The Series emerged from the Society for European Festivals Research (SEFR): founding convenors J.R. Mulryne, Margaret Shewring and Margaret M. McGowan, subsequently joined by Marie-Claude Canova-Green, with an Advisory Board of Renaissance scholars, archivists and curators. Support from the European Science Foundation was received for an Exploratory Workshop and inaugural conference, Venice, March 2010. Based at the University of Warwick, the Society currently has more than 200 members.

As founding general editor of the Shakespeare in Performance Series, J. R. Mulryne guided 17 volumes through the press (Manchester: Manchester University Press, 1990–2003). He was joined in 1992 by James C. Bulman as co-general editor and, from 1993-2003, by Margaret Shewring as associate editor.

Co-general editor of the Revels Plays, scholarly editions of plays 1558–1642. The Revels Plays Series was conceived by Clifford Leech who remained a general editor of the Series until 1971. Originally published by Methuen, the Series moved to Manchester University Press with a team of four general editors: David Bevington, Richard Dutton, J. R. Mulryne and E. M. Waith.

Co-editor with Margaret Shewring of Renaissance Drama Newsletter and annual Supplements (late 1980s-late 1990s) and co-editor with Elizabeth Goldring of The Renaissance Journal (2000–2003), both publications associated with the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance at the University of Warwick.
