The Centre for the Study of the renaissance and the Humanities Research Centre jointly funds two fellowships for PhD students and early career scholars (up to 5 years post PhD), who want to conduct short periods of research abroad. These fellowships are intended to support trips of 2-4 weeks that will deepen and broaden research links between Warwick and specific research institutions in North America.

These institutions are namely, the Singleton Center for the Study of Premodern Europe, at Johns Hopkins University, which will be of interest to those working on Early Modern Topics, the Classical Tradition, or Book History in any department.  And also the Newberry Library in Chicago, which is a world-renowned independent research library, dedicated to the advancement and dissemination of knowledge, especially in the humanities. The Newberry Library acquires and preserves a broad array of special collections research materials relating to the civilizations of Europe and the Americas, and offers readers an extensive non-circulating collection of rare books, maps, music, manuscripts, and other printed material spanning six centuries.

The Center for Renaissance Studies at the Newberry Library, works with an international consortium of universities in North America and the United Kingdom, and the Centre for the Study of the Renaissance at the University of Warwick is proud to be a part of this prestigious consortium. In turn we are also very grateful to Warwick's Humanities Research Centre, which generously provides funding towards the annual consortium membership fees.
