Warwick Renaissance Society Field Trip, Thursday 12th June 2025

Please join us on Thursday 12th June 2025 for a visit to Upton HouseLink opens in a new window and Compton VerneyLink opens in a new window, two world-renowned collections of early modern art in our local area .

On our second field trip, we will discover the artworks of Upton House and Compton Verney. Assembled by the second Viscount Bearsted during the 20th century, the collection at Upton House includes Old Master and British pictures (e.g. Stubbs, Bosch, Canaletto), while Compton Verney houses sculpture and painting from the 15th century up to the present day (e.g. Baroque Neapolitan painting, newly displayed Two Women Wearing Cosmetic Patches, c.1655).

Itinerary

9:45 Leave Warwick campus by coach (Car Park 2Link opens in a new window, near Bluebell, central campus)

10:30-11:00 Private tour Upton House (house closed to the public)

11:00-12:00 Free time to explore the house and gardens

12:00-12:15 Drive over to Compton Verney

12:15-13:15 Lunch

13:15-14:45 Guided tour Compton Verney (Northern Europe and Naples collections)

14:45-15:45 Free time to explore the gallery and grounds

16:00 Return to campus
