Former PhD student Sergei Zotov has been awarded a BA post-doctoral fellowship award for his project, ‘Albums of Secrets in the Age of Reason’. In October, he’ll be joining the Department of History and Philosophy of Science, University of Cambridge, as a British Academy Postdoctoral Fellow. His project examines seventeenth- and eighteenth-century manuscript albums combining alchemy, medicine, astrology, and magic, with a particular focus on images as tools for reasoning and experimentation. It is the first British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship project on alchemy in the scheme’s forty-year history.
