British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowships

Warwick's Centre for the Study of the Renaissance (CSR) invites expressions of interest for the British Academy Postdoctoral Fellowship scheme. These awards are intended to offer opportunities for outstanding early career researchers to strengthen their experience of research and teaching in a university environment that will develop their curriculum vitae and improve their prospects of obtaining permanent academic posts by the end of the Fellowship. The primary emphasis is on completion of a significant piece of publishable research, which will be assisted by full membership of an academic community of established scholars working in similar fields. The CSR is keen to support outstanding new fellows and has been successful with this scheme in recent years.

The Faculty of Arts at the University of Warwick is one of the world’s top 50 Arts and Humanities faculties and is home to a thriving research culture spread across seven Departments and Schools (see https://warwick.ac.uk/fac/arts/research/). The CSR is a buoyant hub of interdisciplinary research, with a well-established international reputation with for example, the Newberry Library (Chicago) and its consortium, Johns Hopkins University, the Warburg Institute, Ca' Foscari University (Venice), and Monash (Australia). Specialisms range from the Middle Ages to the seventeenth century, in particular covering Italy, France, Spain, England, the Holy Roman Empire, and their territories. Particular strengths of CSR members include theatre and literature, intellectual history, social and cultural history, history of the book, history of religion, history of science and medicine, history of art, history of universities, epistolary networks, history of translation, the relationships between Neo-Latin and the vernaculars, and the classical tradition.
