Neo-Latin Anthology
Purpose of the Anthology
The SNLS has produced this anthology for the use of teachers of Latin everywhere, and we hope that the range of texts and authors will be particularly valuable to tutors, students and researchers working on neo-Latin sources. The anthology is aimed at postgraduate students, and includes texts of varying levels of difficulty, so that individual tutors can select texts for their own pedagogical purposes.
We have aimed to create as diverse and wide-ranging an anthology as possible. Prose, epic, pastoral, lyric, satirical and panegyric texts are included, ranging from the fifteenth to the twentieth century. Authors so far include Anthony Alsop, Jodocus Badius Ascensius, Jacob Bidermann, George Buchanan, Robert Burton, Thomas Campion, Abraham Cowley, Johannes Alexander Gaertner, Juan Ginés de Sepúlveda, Arthur Johnston, Walter Savage Landor, John Milton, Thomas Neale, Giovanni Gioviano Pontano, and Francesco Sperulo.
