The Warwick Writing Programme

Students in a library

The perfect blend of expert teaching, industry networks, and professional development

We take pride in our national and international reputation for research and teaching excellence. If you join us, you will study on an internationally acclaimed writing programme that attracts writers and literary translators from across the globe.

You will join a department that is underpinned by an ethos that holds writers and translators to be creators, not just on the page, but within the wider cultural sector. We are committed to contemporary and experimental narratives, including screenwriting, literary translation, gaming, spoken word performances and fieldwork.

We foster and maintain excellent creative industry links and networks to enable our students to achieve their career ambitions. We have an international profile as a literary incubator, first through the successes of our staff and alumni, and more recently with the new Warwick Prize for Women in Translation and our involvement with the Sunday Times Young Writer Award. We maintain links to writers of the Midlands through outreach events and international partnerships with educational institutions, writers’ organisations and publishers.
