We’re proud to announce that at the end of last term, final-year Liberal Arts student, Paula Strubel, was announced as the winner of the Arts Course Rep category for the Students' Union’s Transforming Education Spotlight.
The Transforming Education Spotlight is a termly celebration of the people who are dedicated to the student voice at Warwick. “With the student voice being so important to the educational experience, we wanted to regularly highlight some of the work that is happening in SSLCs across the University” (Warwick SU).
Paula was nominated for her “excellent job of helping to form the Liberal Arts Student-Staff Liaison Committee (SSLC) from a generally informal and not always impactful group into a well-organised committee, despite the substantial challenges posed by COVID-19.” Each week, Paula has gathered feedback from Liberal Arts students on the issues around COVID-19. This has been “of real importance (and took real effort).”
Beyond the Liberal Arts SSLC, Paula “has done an exemplary job of representing students on various departmental committees. This has helped the department work on a range of strategic objectives, including those shared by the wider University around liberating the curriculum.”
"I am very honoured to have received the award. It is not only a reflection of my personal work in the SSLC as Chair, but also points towards the collective effort of our SSLC. The SSLC and the voices it can amplify has and will continue to be huge asset to our department and its students. I have really enjoyed my role in this so far and am looking forward to continuing this term."
