Critical Theory Group
Welcome!
Welcome to the Critical Theory Group. We are a group of staff and students across Warwick working on critical theory, broadly conceived.
We understand critical theory to be a means of denaturalising and overcoming oppressive social relations, not an intellectual curiosity; for us, the purpose of critical theory is to act in the present for the emancipation of all. Defined as such, we understand critical theory as an interdisciplinary endeavour drawing from political and social theory, critical political economy, political ecology, philosophy, history, psychoanalysis and literary criticism. We aim to use theory from across all these fields to illuminate the contemporary social and political conjuncture.
Use this website to meet our members, find out about our events, and explore examples of the research being undertaken at Warwick and in the local community.
