Getting to the University of Warwick

By Car

The postcode CV4 7AL will direct you to Gibbet Hill Road, the main road through the University. 'Pay and Display' parking is available throughout the main campus; if you would like us to arrange for a visitor car parking ahead of your visit please contact us.

From The North

From the M69/M6 interchange (M6 Junction 2) take the A46 towards Warwick and Coventry South and East.
After about 3.5 miles you’ll reach Toll Bar End roundabout (at the junction with the A45). At the roundabout, follow the signs for A45 Birmingham.
After about 3 miles you’ll cross the A429 (Kenilworth Road). Half a mile after this junction, take the left-hand turn signposted ‘University of Warwick’.
Follow the signs for University of Warwick (and Warwick Arts Centre) across two roundabouts. You’ll reach the University of Warwick from Kirby Corner Road.

From The South East

From the M45 Junction 1 take the A45 towards Coventry.

From The South

From M40 Junction 15 take the A46 towards Coventry.
After about 8 miles, leave the A46 at the junction signposted ‘University of Warwick and Stoneleigh’.
After 1.5 miles you’ll cross the A429 (Kenilworth Road). You’ll reach the University of Warwick from Gibbet Hill Road.
From The West

From the M42 Junction 6 take the A45 towards Coventry.
After about 9 miles you’ll pass a large Sainsbury’s supermarket on your left. At the next roundabout (with a fire station on your right) take the right-hand exit, signposted ‘University and Canley’.
Follow the signs for University of Warwick (and Warwick Arts Centre) across two roundabouts. You’ll reach the University of Warwick from Kirby Corner Road.

Public Transport

By Rail

Coventry is the most convenient train station for most visitors to Warwick. It’s served by trains from London Euston, Birmingham (New Street and International) and Leicester. From Coventry station, it’s easy to get a taxi (around £10, 15 minutes) or bus (see below) to us.

Canley and Tile Hill: Canley (1.3 miles, a 25-minute walk) and Tile Hill (2.2 miles, a 45-minute walk) train stations are both served by trains from London, Milton Keynes, Birmingham New Street, Birmingham International, Coventry, Rugby and Northampton. Neither station has a taxi rank, so if you don’t want to walk, book a taxi in advance.

Leamington Spa: Leamington Spa train station (9.5 miles) is served by trains from Birmingham, Coventry, Oxford, Reading and London Marylebone. You can get a bus to us (see below) from close to the station.

By Bus

There are regular buses to us from Coventry and Leamington Spa. Get off the bus at the Main University Bus Interchange and head towards Social Sciences and the Ramphal Building (should be to the left as you exit the bus).

Coventry: The 11 and 12 bus routes both serve Warwick Conferences. A single costs £1.90, a Day Saver (return) costs £3.90. You’ll need to have the right money as bus drivers don’t give change. Both buses call at the Rail Station Bridge SD stop on Warwick Road – a one-minute walk from Coventry station.

Leamington Spa: The U1 and U2 buses serve Warwick Conferences. Both services stop at Parish Church Stand B – a seven-minute walk from Leamington Spa station

By Air

The closest airport is Birmingham Airport. A taxi to the University of Warwick from the airport will take about 30 minutes and cost around £30. Alternatively, you can take a direct train to Coventry from Birmingham International station which is at the airport.

Professor Sue Bloxham

Sue Bloxham is an Emeritus Professor of Academic Practice at the University of Cumbria. She has published widely in the field including the best-selling 'Developing Effective Assessment in Higher Education' (Open University Press) with Pete Boyd and was awarded a National Teaching Fellowship in 2007. Professor Jacqueline Stevenson

Professor Jacqueline Stevenson is Head of Research in the Sheffield Institute of Education. She is a sociologist of education with a particular interest in policy and practice relating to equity and diversity in higher education, widening participation, access and student success, pedagogic diversity and the stratification and marketisation of higher education. Professor Ray Land

Ray Land is Emeritus Professor in the School of Education at Durham University. He has published widely in the field of educational research, including works on academic development, learning technology and quality enhancement. He is best known for his theory (with Jan Meyer) of Threshold Concepts and Troublesome Knowledge. Read more.
