Biography

Charlotte completed a PhD in English in 2004, focused on the cultural history of taste, and taught English and American Studies at the University of Gloucestershire. She joined the Open University in 2005, where she spent 18 years in a number of roles, broadly based in the delivery of subject-based educational advice and guidance, quality assurance and enhancement, management of systems and professional development. She led on the evaluation of large-scale development events for the university’s 4500+ associate lecturers, and on the training and development of associate lecturers in new systems.

Charlotte joined the University of Warwick as Assistant Professor (Digital Education) in May 2023, where she has been co-leading the PGA TEL, assisting in the development of ADC Moodle courses and spaces, mentoring and assessing on APP EXP, and assessing on the APP TE programme.

Charlotte is a visiting fellow at the Open University and, in addition to being editor of Open Learning: The Journal of Open, Distance and e-Learning, she peer reviews for a number of journals including the International Journal for Academic Development and Innovations in Education and Teaching International.

Charlotte is an event lead for #creativeHE.

Interests

Charlotte is engaged in research focused on evaluation and evidencing impact. She is also interested in understanding the digital learning experience from different perspectives, as well as creative approaches to learning, including using craft as a means of reflection.
