Shakespeare's Toolkit
Shakespeare's Toolkit, led by CAPITAL Fellow of Creativity Rob Clare, was an eminently practical series of workshops for actors of all levels of experience, as well as for Shakespeare scholars, students and staff.
The project took Shakespeare's verse and demystified it from a practitioner's perspective: showing it to comprise an increasingly flexible and supportive set of invitations to the actor, to help them to make the text distinctively and truthfully their own, and to bring it to life while simultaneously opening up creative space around it. An assessment of differing strategies for harnessing the available strengths of the verse, and potential pitfalls to avoid.
Shakespeare's Toolkit began in Autumn 2007 with three evening classes, and continues during the Christmas vacation with three full day workshop sessions.
