International experts call for digital human rights at World Health Assembly side event
A group of international health and human rights experts, including youth leaders, at the World Health Assembly (WHA) called for human rights to be at the centre of the global push for digital health. The Digital Health and Rights Project, an international consortium hosted by CIM, co-sponsored a WHA side event with DTH-Lab and speakers including UN Human Rights office director Peggy Hicks, Barbados science minister Marsha Caddle, and a diverse group of African and European youth and civil society leaders on May 29th. In her closing remarks, CIM professor Meg Davis called for more frank discussions at WHA of the harms and benefits of digital health, and steps to address digital rights.
