Venice

The workshop will take place in Venice, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, one of the world's most popular tourist destinations, attracting millions of visitors annually. Renowned globally for its iconic landmarks, including St. Mark's Square, the Doge's Palace, and the Grand Canal, the city captivates with its unique charm. Its network of canals weaves through a labyrinth of streets, lined with charming cafes, gelaterias, restaurants, and boutiques nestled amidst Renaissance palaces and Gothic churches.

Venice is built on a group of islands that are separated by expanses of open water and by canals, and so there are no regular taxis or buses that will bring you near the workshop venue or near most of the hotels. On the main island, where the workshop is taking place, you can traverse the canals by vaporetto or water bus/ferry (relatively affordable), water taxi (pricey), or gondola (very expensive).

Travel from the airport to the worksop venue

  • Alilaguna boat: it takes 1 hour and cost 15-20 euro per person. You can get off at Sant'Angelo which is 400 m from the Palazzo Giustinian Lolin.
  • By bus (ATVO) to Piazzale Roma (Piazzale Roma Bus Terminal). It takes 20 minutes, then walking to our Foresteria (20/30 mins) or by vaporetto boat line 1 or 2 through Grand Canal running every 12 minutes from "Piazzale Roma" to "Accademia" (line nr 1 and line nr 2) or arriving at San Samuele stop (only line nr 2) . The ticket costs 9.50 euro per person.
  • From train station by vaporetto boat line nr 1 or 2 through Grand Canal running every 12 minutes from "Piazzale Roma" to "Accademia". The ticket costs 9.50 euro per person. Once got off, cross the Accademia bridge and take Ponte Giustinian on your left handside and go straight.
  • A Water Taxi from Venice Marco Polo Airport to the city centre costs between 105 and 150 euro.
  • Given the rather complex way of traveling on the island, we advise to not arrive too late.

Since Venice is a very popular tourist destinations aleady in May, we advise to book accommodation early.
