Seminar: Manos Papagelis, York University, CA

Short bio: Manos Papagelis is an Assistant Professor of Electrical
Engineering and Computer Science (EECS) at York University, Toronto,
Canada. His research interests include data mining, graph mining,
machine learning, big data analytics, knowledge discovery and city
science. He holds a Ph.D. in Computer Science from the University of
Toronto, Canada, and a M.Sc. and a B.Sc. in Computer Science from the
University of Crete, Greece. Before joining York University, he was a
postdoctoral research scholar at the University of California,
Berkeley. In the past, he has worked twice as a research intern at
Yahoo! Labs, Barcelona and as a research fellow at the Institute of
Computer Science, FORTH, Greece. His research has appeared in the ACM
Trans. on Knowledge Discovery from Data (ACM TKDD) and the IEEE Trans.
on Knowledge and Data Engineering (IEEE TKDE). He received the best
paper award at the 19th IEEE International Conference on Mobile Data
Management (IEEE MDM 2018), and the outstanding reviewer award at the
26th ACM International Conference on Information and Knowledge
Management (ACM CIKM 2017). He has taught at the University of
California, Berkeley and at the University of Toronto.
