Constructions of Public Office

Constructions of Public Office

Constructions of Public Office is an AHRC-funded project that focuses on understandings of public office and its responsibilities

Student and Teacher

The project’s central claim is that, by embedding training and expectations in relation to public office more securely in the attitudes and dispositions that people have, the chances of compliance increase dramatically.

It seeks to integrate more local and contextual understandings into programmes for training and staff development and to enable a more targeted approach to risks of inefficiency, corruption, and malfeasance.

Good governance is at the heart of any proposal to assist other societies and cultures, and the development of more sensitive understandings of the way in which public office is understood and the expectations that people in different countries have of those holding such office is essential if those in government are to be effective in communicating its aspirations and meeting expectations.
