History at the Higher Education Academy

August eBulletin

The HEA Board and Chief Executive are currently reviewing the focus and structure of the Higher Education Academy. Craig Mahoney, the new Chief Executive has produced a paper aimed to solicit comment from institutional leaders. Whilst this is not a full 'consultation' we are keen that the views of the History subject community are taken into consideration when the future of the Academy is considered in September. Please read the paper and forward any comments to sarah dot richardson at warwick dot ac dot uk or to e dot evans at lancaster dot ac dot uk. These will be collated at a History Subject Centre Advisory Board meeting on 3rd September and forwarded to Craig Mahoney.

The National Student Satisfaction Survey results for History show an increase in overall satisfaction for the teaching of the subject from 81% in 2009 to 89% in 2010. We will be working with individual Departments in 2010-11 to provide some more detailed context to particular NSS profiles.

Mark that date! We are pleased to announce that the 13th Annual Teaching and Learning in History Conference will be held 4-5 April 2011 at Lady Margaret Hall, University of Oxford.
