Student Co-Creation Partnership with EPQ
Staff and student co-creation is one of IATL’s core practices. We are therefore delighted to be supporting the Co-Creation Officer project within the Institutional Teaching and Learning Review (ITLR), in partnership with Education Policy and Quality (EPQ). IATL are providing funding and support through our Project Support scheme, with staff and our Co-Creation Officers having been involved in the project from an early stage.
This is an innovative example of a department working with us to develop co-creation using IATL’s practice as a template, and we hope it inspires other departments to do the same.
Katie Berlin, EPQ’s Student Engagement Officer, said: ‘Inspired by the IATL Co-Creation model, EPQ and the ITLR have both greatly benefitted from having Tony and Nikita, our student Co-Creation Officers, at the helm of student engagement. Their knowledge of the university and networks, connections, and experiences have shaped what student engagement in the ITLR looks like, who is involved, and what outputs we create.’
ITLR Co-Creation Officer Nikita Asnani said: ‘To me, co-creation is about empowering students to draw their own lines, instead of asking them to colour inside the lines educational institutions make for them. It has been the essence of my role, in which I work together with my fellow co-creation officer, Tony, as well as the Students’ Union, Faculty Student Co-ordinators, and DSEPs, to champion the student voice and find innovative ways to get student voice not only heard but listened to and implemented in meaningfully tangible and impactful ways.’
We will continue to support the co-creative element of ITLR during the year and look forward to sharing project outputs that will further facilitate co-creation.
