UK GAMES EXPO 2025
As part of the IATL Serious Tabletop Game Design and Development module, I, along with 4 other students, were given the opportunity to attend the UK Games Expo. This was a fantastic opportunity to show off our final games, and connect with industry professionals and creatives. We had a number of game developers come to our table and discuss the mechanical elements of our game, as well as a number of professors and educators who noted the clear educational benefits of games across the display. It was a really wonderful experience to have some in depth conversations with experts and professionals, and hear about other games being worked on within the industry.
The expo, hosted across 4 halls of the NEC Birmingham, was absolutely huge, and we all had time to explore everything we wanted to look at. There were games in development, games going live for release, production companies and manufacturers, and a whole host of live entertainment and demo gameplay sessions to attend.
Overall, the opportunity was a fantastic chance to explore the real world applications of the skills we developed in the module, and genuinely was one of the best experiences I've had so far at university!
