IATL Explores Innovation Online
IATL is advancing high-quality online, blended, hybrid, and asynchronous learning opportunities for students at Warwick.
Our first 15 CATS asynchronous module, Global Connections: A Transdisciplinary Approach (Online), offers undergraduate students a transdisciplinary learning experience to explore global issues in innovative, exciting ways. Designed to remove barriers such as distance from campus, timetabling conflicts, caring responsibilities, and employment commitments, the module provides flexibility without compromising academic rigour.
Global Connections (Online) builds on IATL’s existing transdisciplinary provision and introduces new pedagogical approaches to digital learning. During the module, our students engage with curated multimedia resources, interactive discussion forums, and reflective assignments that foster collaboration across disciplines and cultures. The module experience culminates with an opportunity to create a Student-Devised Assessment involving research that transcends disciplinary boundaries on a globally-oriented theme of choice.
What’s Next?
Feedback from students and tutors will inform the design of a suite of new credit-bearing IATL modules—spanning asynchronous, hybrid, and blended formats—scheduled for rollout in 2026/27. These modules will extend opportunities for inclusive, wellbeing-positive learning and support Warwick’s commitment to curricular innovation at scale. This pilot will also generate sector-leading insights into transdisciplinary online education, an area still underdeveloped across higher education.
