Karis -Joy Chow

My name is Karis-Joy and I am a 2^nd year Education student at the University of Warwick. I am one of the Student Directors for ICUR 2026.

I first encountered the student research community when I presented my own research project on the siblings of children with disabilities, at the Undergraduate Research Support Scheme (URSS) showcase in November 2025. I loved the supportive nature of the community, as everyone was curious to learn about new topics and ideas and fostering interdisciplinary connections. I also loved seeing how student voices were empowered and valued within fields of academic research.

I am excited to be able to play a role in this empowerment and nurturing of a supportive, accessible and international research community during ICUR 2026, as we have training workshops, community events and one-to-one sessions to support our applicants and presenters. I am also excited to promote our alternate form presentations this year, showcasing research through creative and interactive ways!
