About

I’m Matteo, a 3rd year maths and physics undergraduate at the University of Warwick and I’m also a Student Director for ICUR 2025. I joined ICUR as a session chair last year and was inspired by all the presentations and posters on display to help co-create the conference this year. At the moment I am working on developing resources and new ways of supporting students through their journey at ICUR; as for most participants this is the first time they will have attended an academic conference or presenting their work in a formal environment.

I also undertook my own research project this summer (looking at modelling how people rationally respond to epidemics) which I’m hoping to present at ICUR this year. One of my favourite parts of ICUR last year was seeing how people from different disciplines asked questions about others research from different perspectives, so I am looking forward to seeing what themes from my project are interesting a relevant outside of my own discipline.

I am also eager to create more chances for these interdisciplinary conversations this year, as I think this is one of the most exciting and unique things about ICUR. Not only do they help to spark new ideas and potential collaborations, but it also gives people new perspectives and applications that they might never have considered before!
