John Slinger has been an MP for the Labour Party since 2024, having won the Rugby, Bulkington and the villages constituency.
Since 2024 John has been advocating on behalf of young people since entering Parliament in July 2024. It is a top priority of his to redress the unfair imbalance in our society regarding both economic resources provided to, and political attention given to young people’s needs.
The ‘Posters in Parliament’ event aligns closely with his efforts to engage young people directly with the heart of our democracy, and he is looking forward to seeing the excellent research conducted by students from across the country. All who have positions of power and influence in our country must take much more account of the voices and needs of our young people and take actions that empower them to become the architects of their future.
John is committed to working for his constituency community and all relevant local, regional, and national bodies for:
  • Regeneration of Rugby town centre
  • Improvements to healthcare locally, including a doctor-led urgent care system from the Hospital of St Cross and better access to GPs and NHS dentists.
  • Enhancing local infrastructure to meet the growing needs of our towns and villages, such as improving bus services.
  • More provision of genuinely affordable and social home.
  • Improve educational outcomes in Rugby, including sufficient spaces for our children.
  • Advocating for economic policies that boost our local economy and fund good-quality public services.
