Tour of the UK Parliament

Attendees at the Posters in Parliament 2026 event are invited to join an optional tour, the Democratic Access Tour of the UK Parliament which will include the House of Lords, Central Lobby, St Stephen’s Hall and Westminster Hall. Please note that tour participants will need to enter airport-style security and will need to allow around 30 minutes for this.

During this 75-minute tour, your guide will:
  • explain the work of UK Parliament and its relevance today
  • outline how the working spaces you visit on the tour are used
  • set out ways you can get involved and engage with the democratic process
  • highlight some of the dramatic history of the Palace of Westminster

How to get here

Bus: 3, 11, 12, 24, 53, 87, 88, 148, 159, 211, 453
Tube: Westminster (Circle, District and Jubilee Lines)
National Rail: Waterloo, Charing Cross, Victoria, Vauxhall (all approx. 15-30 minutes walk)
Coach: Drop off only by Victoria Tower Gardens (for coach parking information, please visitwww.westminster.gov.uk/coach-parking

Joining your tour

Please enter via the Cromwell Green Visitors Entrance (marked No. 9 on the map) and make your way through into Westminster Hall where you will find the Tours Co-ordinator's desk. Please note that tour participants will need to enter airport-style security and will need to allow around 30 minutes for this.
At the end of your tour you will exit via Carriage Gates (marked no. 7).

Duration of the tour
75 minutes. Please allow about 30 minutes to pass through the security checks at the entrance.

Photography and mobile phones

Photography is only permitted in Westminster Hall and St Stephen's Hall. Mobile phones may not be used within the Palace and should be switched off.

Toilets

Toilets (including disabled facilities) are located next to Westminster Hall and are available at the start and end of your tour.

Shop

The Jubilee shop, located off Westminster Hall, offers a wide range of books, gifts and souvenirs.

Food and drink

The Jubilee Cafe, located off Westminster Hall, offers a selection of light meals, and hot and cold drinks. Please check the website for opening hours. Eating and drinking is not permitted on the Visitor Route.
Please use the links above to sign up to one of the tours. Spaces are capped at 25 per tour and so if there are no spaces, please try another time. Further detailed joining instructions, information about security processes and a ticket to show to the tour guide will be sent to you closer to the time. Places are extremely limited and so please contact the event organisers if you are no longer able to take your place on the tour.

Although no food or drink is allowed during the tour, the tour will end near to the Jubilee cafe and gift shop, off Westminster Hall.

End of the tour

Please note that the tour ends around a two-minute walk from the location of the Posters in Parliament exhibition. You will need to enter security again before entering the Posters in Parliament exhibition (please allow a further 30 minutes for this).
