The Warwick Handbook of Innovative Teaching

The 'Sport, Philosophy and Practice' project was originally funded as part of Philip's strategic project to create The Warwick Handbook of Innovative Teaching. This is a handbook containing practical tasks inspired by interviews and lesson observations conducted over the 2015/16 and 16/17 academic years at Warwick. Teachers can use the handbook to help them be more innovative and creative in their teaching. More on this project can be found hereLink opens in a new window.

The 'Sport, Philosophy and Practice' sub-project was, firstly, a chance to document the creative and potentially innovative process of creating a new module. Secondly, it was a practical way to immediately put into practice the things that were being learned whilst creating the Handbook.

In relation to the latter, we will be reflecting upon and seeking to publish about this at a later date. In relation to the former, however, extracts from interviews between Jonathan, Philip, and Tatjana will be used alongside questions and tasks in the Handbook to aid readers who are trying to engage with innovative processes. These extracts can be found  hereLink opens in a new window, but make sure to get hold of a copy of the Handbook when it's available so you can see them alongside their accompanying tasks and questions.

Philip also led a session for the Teaching Grid's 'Window on Teaching' series based on these extracts and the creation of the module. A video of the session can be found hereLink opens in a new window.
