Global Connections (Online)
Assessment
Global Connections (Online) is a fully asynchronous module that examines how globalisation shapes contemporary life through interconnected cultural, political, economic, social and environmental processes. It highlights the growing importance of strong intercultural awareness in a world marked by counter‑globalisation and rising populism.
Using a transdisciplinary approach, the module invites students to integrate their disciplinary perspectives and personal experiences while engaging with multimodal online materials. Contributions from globally focused experts across diverse professional fields expose learners to a wide range of viewpoints and illustrate the complexity of global connections and disconnections. Designed for flexibility and depth, the module supports students in developing informed, reflective understandings of global issues at their own pace.
The assessment is as follows:
1) Reflective e-Portfolio (40%)
You will create, manage, and integrate learning reflections and responses in an e-Portfolio. The platform will be an approved format of your choosing (e.g. Mahara). The e-Portfolio will include responses to modular content (e.g. workshops, readings, peer reviews), your wider learning (e.g. transdisciplinarity), and track the development of your ideas and resources towards the production of your final SDA piece.
2) Student Devised Assessment (60%)
This is an inter/transdisciplinary research project demonstrated through a negotiated format. This will be the final piece of assessed work you submit (2,500 words or equivalent).
