What is the module about?

This is an interactive and practical module aiming to inspire you about entrepreneurship by providing an interdisciplinary overview of the entrepreneurial process and the main steps involved in setting up and running a new venture. It highlights the interdisciplinary/transdisciplinary nature of enterprise/entrepreneurship as a field of study and 'lifts the curtain' on entrepreneurship for students from all disciplinary backgrounds.

What will the module cover?

This module does not set out to teach you how to set up your own enterprise. Moreover, it aims to help you appreciate the complexities of entrepreneurship and develop an enterprising mindset through an interdisciplinary overview of the process that leads to business creation. This includes reflections on different aspects of the entrepreneurial process such as the motivation to start a business, opportunity identification, social and legal responsibilities.

Indicative Content

Exploring entrepreneurship from various disciplines and viewpoints, the module curates a range of expertise from the fields of Psychology, Business Studies, Education, Information Systems, Cultural Policy, and more. Each session is unique and will take you on a reflective journey of personal and academic growth.

How will I be assessed?

1) Individual Reflective Essay (50%)

This assignment requires you to write a critical reflection on entrepreneurship, based on one or more of the topics discussed in the module. Your personal critical reflections should make specific reference to the content discussed in the sessions and be underpinned with relevant entrepreneurship theory introduced during the module alongside personal research into the topic.

2) Group Presentation (40%)

    You will work in a group to prepare and deliver a 15 minute long presentation on a topic relating to material presented during the course. Your presentation will typically take the form of a verbal presentation using slides and may incorporate a short video, an interview, or the findings of the group's research on a topic you have explored together.

    3) Blog (10%)

      You will write a blog or short article that has, as its starting point, a burning question that you have about some aspect of entrepreneurship encountered during the module.
