Interdisciplinary Skills Sessions
We are excited to announce that IATL is now offering a selection of Interdisciplinary Skills Sessions designed to enhance your learning. Over the next few weeks, we will be running a series of workshops led by IATL’s Interdisciplinary Practitioners. If you are interested in developing your interdisciplinary skill set and would like to participate in one (or more) of these opportunities (listed below), please register your interest here.
Week 6 - Academic Writing
This workshop will go over some essential skills required for successful essay writing in an interdisciplinary context. It will be led by Dr Viv Joseph.

Week 7 – Approaches to Critical Reading
What does “critical” mean in the context of academic reading? How is “critical reading” different from summarising or analysing? This session will deepen your understanding of a range of different approaches to critical reading, expanding your toolbox and enhancing the creativity of your responses to academic literature.

Week 8 - Ethics Application Support
This workshop will help you through the process of applying for Ethical Approval for IATL-related assessments. It will be led by Dr Viv Joseph.

Week 9– Writing an Abstract
This session explores writing an abstract, a 250-word summary of your research. Using a number of key questions, this session helps you work through your research plans, identifying why you’re conducting your research and what the significance of your results are. This process can help you conduct better research, as well as prepare you for presenting and publishing your work at ICUR or in Reinvention.

Week 9 - Drop-in Clinic: Research Design & Methods for Interdisciplinary Assignments
‘Drop in’ to receive extra support on interdisciplinary research design for your IATL module.
