Learning Beyond Disciplines
Multi-, inter-, and trans- disciplinary learning can support students to find their voice, develop new ideas and become agents of change. This learning gives students a critical sense of the basis, strengths, and limits of their own discipline and of its place in the universe of knowledge, offering a new perspective and opening new possibilities alongside their disciplinary journey.
IATL promotes and delivers quality, academically rigorous education through modules and learning experiences, both face-to-face and online, which transcend disciplines and encompass different forms of knowledge and skills, including the experiential and socioemotional. This enhances and expands students’ learning, and their ability to work across disciplinary boundaries to address real-world challenges.
IATL will lead the University to support Departments in developing and offering ‘learning beyond disciplines’ opportunities. IATL will be a nexus for these activities and ensure all staff and students are enabled to explore the broad academic landscape and collaborate with others from different disciplinary backgrounds.
