Research Interests

The lab performs a combination of basic and applied research towards understanding plant development, and translating these findings into agricultural technologies.

Active areas of research include:

  • Investigating how plants perceive and use signals from the environment to control their growth.
  • Understanding the genetic basis of seed quality and vigour.
  • Improving the nutritional properties of plant-based protein sources.

Key findings are being translated into crop species using CRISPR-based gene editing technologies.

Scientific Inspiration

Charles Darwin for answering the biggest question of them all: where did we come from?
