Provision of Training

Training will initially be undertaken by myself and other lab members, with the goal of students becoming independent.

Prior knowledge of lab techniques is not required, just a willingness to learn!

Progression Monitoring and Management

All members of the lab meet every week for a 1 hour one-to-one meeting with Prof Bassel. Project goals, progress and interpretation of results are discussed here. Lab meetings are another opportunity to present data and get feedback from other members of the group.

Communication

In addition to the individual weekly meetings and lab meetings, we have a lab Slack channel which is used for rapid communication. The group is sat together in a shared office, which also serves as a computational dry lab space for 3D image analysis and modelling.

These meetings will usually be face to face. I am usually contactable for an instant response on every working day.

Working Patterns

The timing of work in my lab is completely flexible, and (other than attending pre-arranged meetings), I expect students to manage their own time.

Notice Period for Feedback

I need at least 1 week’s notice to provide feedback on written work of up to 5000 words.
