Simon Graham

Dr. Simon Graham is a Data Scientist in the PathLAKE consortium, where he specialises in the development of deep learning algorithms for the automatic analysis of digital histopathology slides. In 2020, Dr. Graham completed his PhD as part of the Mathematics for Real-World Systems Doctoral Training Centre at the University of Warwick, where he worked under the supervision of Prof. Nasir Rajpoot in the Tissue Image Analytics (TIA) Lab. His thesis was titled ‘Localisation and Symmetry in Computational Pathology’ and introduced a range of novel algorithms that automatically analyse cancerous tissue in H&E histology images. Prior to working within the area of Computational Pathology, Dr Graham received a BSc and MSc in Mathematics.

Dr Graham has published his work in a number of top tiered medical image analysis journals and conferences, where in particular he has been the lead author of papers published at MedIA, IEEE TMI, IEEE ISBI and MIDL. Now, Dr Graham is interested in understanding the role that various histological features play in predicting clinical outcome and patient response to treatment, particularly for patients with colorectal cancer. Dr Graham was recently on the organising committee for the European Congress on Digital Pathology (ECDP), that took place in Warwick in 2019.
