Successful Grant for NPC Research Collaboration with Malaysia
We are excited to announce our successful grant application through the British Council's ISPF Research Collaboration for the project "Development of Diagnosis and Prognosis Model Using Whole Slide Images (WSI)-Based Biomarkers for Personalised Treatment in Nasopharyngeal Carcinoma."
This project addresses the high incidence of nasopharyngeal carcinoma (NPC) in Southeast Asia, particularly among lower socioeconomic groups. Our team will use machine learning algorithms to analyse H&E slides and immunofluorescence imaging data to discover biomarkers for better diagnosis and prognosis. In collaboration with Dr. Elaine Chan Wan Ling from the International Medical University (IMU), Malaysia, we aim to develop omic-based imaging biomarkers improving patient management and survival rates.
The research promises to create cost-effective tests with shorter turnaround times, reducing health disparities and benefiting other high-incidence NPC countries in Southeast Asia.
