Prior to joining the Analytical Science CDT, I completed an interdisciplinary master's degree in Natural Sciences specialising in Physics where I benefitted from studying between the boundaries of chemistry and physics. During this, I undertook a research project on investigating the structural and magnetic properties of magnetoelectric hexaferrites by powder X-ray diffraction and resonant X-ray diffraction.
I joined the Senn group in the Department of Chemistry in 2021. My research projects centre around using a variety in situ crystallographic techniques, primarily single crystal X-ray and neutron diffraction and 3DXRD/diffraction resolved tomography, to investigate structure-property relationships in layered perovskites. This includes the application of strain and electric fields as well as high pressure and variable temperature experiments to probe materials exhibiting ferroelectricity and superconductivity.
