Inspire Course - 1st-3rd July - help needed
Karen Bradbury is looking to recruit 5 non-graduating students to help design and deliver the content for 'Inspire':
"This year, for the first time, the Engineering department are running an Inspire course from 1st to 3rd July 2013, specifically for local school pupils. The main aim is to help the participants to improve their study skills needed for sixth form and to give a short introduction to engineering (with taster activities).
I need help to develop the course content and deliver it. I will pay each student £200 for the 3-day course and lunch will be provided each day. I can also pay for overnight University accommodation for 1st and 2nd July if you need it."
For more details on the course and how to apply, click on the title of the news item.
Fabulous Feedback
According to the Warwick Student Community Statement, Warwick students are to receive: "Relevant and meaningful feedback on your work in a variety of formats that will help your academic development within a reasonable timescale previously communicated to you, within the University's guidance of four weeks or less."
We want to hear about excellent examples of feedback you have received so that we can share best practice. You can win a £100 top up on your Eating at Warwick card by telling us about fabulous feedback. Nominations are open until 1 March 2013.
So far, from Engineering/WMG, Ian Tuersley, Graham Knowles and Toby Mottram are in the Top 10!
2020 Carbon Challenge
Test your knowledge about CO2-emissions by taking this ultra-short quiz, and find out about what's happening all around campus to enable the University to meet the targets set out in the 2020 Carbon Challenge. When you're out and about, keep your eyes open for the brand new Energy Trail signposts.
A few examples of recent improvements around Warwick:
- Solar film has been applied to 256 University House windows to reduce air conditioning load
- Efficient LED lighting has been installed in Rootes building, the SU, social studies, car park 7 and many other buildings
- The 20 IT Services' server machines, which run all day and night, were combined to run on just 2 machines.
You can make a difference: if you have any queries or suggestions to improve energy efficiency around campus, fill out this short form that will be forwarded to the University's Energy Manager!
