Smart Active Colloids
Tom Montenegro-Johnson, UoW
Abstract: I will give an overview of the propulsion of active colloids; microscale, chemically-powered swimmers that are usually rigid spheres, rods, or disks. I will then demonstrate how their dynamics is enriched when more complex swimmer designs are considered - for instance designs that are topologically nontrivial, slender, curved in 3D space, and flexible/responsive.
