HetSys at Psi-k 2025: A Week of Inspiration, Recognition, and Community
We’re proud to share that HetSys students, from across all cohorts, and HetSys alumni members, were out in full force, contributing to the vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and discovery. The conference saw excellent attendance and engagement from our students, with students actively participating in talks, discussions, and poster sessions throughout the week, including contributed talks by Chris Woodgate (HetSys Alumnus, Cohort 1), Vincent Fletcher (Cohort 4) and Anas Siddiqui (Cohort 3) and poster presentations by Chantal Baer, Zahra Bhatti, Jacob Eller, Adam Fisher, Philip Jones, Matt Nutter, Mariia Radova, Roman Shantsila, Valdas Vitartas, YC Wong. It was also great to see attendance from Luca Seaford (Cohort 6), Ziad Fakhoury (Cohort 3) and Lakshmi Shenoy (Cohort 2).
HetSys Director James Kermode and Deputy Directors Nick Hine and Livia Bartok-Partay were all also in attendance, co-organising symposia on machine learning, 2D materials and advanced sampling techniques, respectively.
A particular highlight was the recognition of two HetSys students, YC Wong of Cohort 5 and Adam Fisher of Cohort 2, who were awarded poster commendations for their outstanding research presentations. Their work stood out among hundreds of contributions and reflects the high calibre of research being conducted within the HetSys programme.
Beyond the academic achievements, our students came away inspired by the breadth and depth of the talks and thoroughly enjoyed the opportunity to connect with the wider Psi-k and HetSys communities. The week was filled with meaningful conversations, new collaborations, and a shared enthusiasm for the future of computational materials science.
We extend our thanks to the Psi-k organisers for hosting such a well-run and inclusive event. We look forward to continuing our engagement with this dynamic community in the years to come.
