PhD Title: Accelerating Theoretical Spectroscopy through Machine-Learning
PhD Supervisor: Nicholas Hine
Background
I studied Physics at King's College London, graduating with a BSc in 2019. For my Bachelor's project I studied Electrons in Piecewise Constant Potentials supervised by Dr Nicola Bonini. Prior to this I completed the CMS course at EPFL.
Research
As part of my PhD in the HetSys CDT I'm working on using machine learning to accelerate excited state dynamics simulations of molecules in complex environments. These methods can be used to gain an atomistic understanding of properties such as photostability, relaxation pathways, and excited state lifetimes of useful chemical compounds such as novel sunscreen candidates.
