Dr Katarina Blow

Katarina Blow is currently a Research Fellow in the Life Sciences department at the University of Warwick, where she applies her strong background in computational physics to interdisciplinary challenges. She completed her PhD through the EPSRC Centre for Doctoral Training in Modelling of Heterogeneous Systems, where her research focused on the use of brute force and enhanced sampling techniques—such as forward flux sampling and seeding—to investigate molecular crystallisation and nucleation. She developed bespoke simulation and analysis tools in Fortran and Python.

Prior to her doctorate, Katarina earned a Master of Science by Research in Physics, also from Warwick. Her thesis explored phase change behaviour in extreme nanowires using Monte Carlo techniques, including custom-developed Wang-Landau sampling code.

Katarina’s work reflects a deep expertise in molecular dynamics, computational chemistry, and statistical modelling. She remains connected to the HetSys community and is passionate about contributing to research at the intersection of physics and the life sciences.
