Seed collections are stored under Bioversity International/ Food and Agriculture Organization of the UN (FAO) recommended conditions (5% mc & -200C) hermetically sealed in foil-laminate pouches.
Packaged seeds are monitored periodically for viability following International Seed Testing Association (ISTA) guidelines.
A seed population, either on receipt or in base storage, which fails predetermined standards for seed weight or viability is scheduled for regeneration.
Out-pollinating vegetables are isolated from similar taxa in insect-proof compartments to prevent contamination. Pollination is carried out by flies.
