Ana Emilia Irache Ezpeleta
Educational background and interests:
Ana graduated with a BSc in Nursing at the University of Navarra, Spain and became a registered nurse in 2017. During her undergraduate she completed clinical rotations in a variety of specialties in Spain and the United States and worked with vulnerable communities in the city of Chicago. This experience led her to pursue a Master of Public Health at the University of Sheffield, UK where Ana worked as a Research Assistant in the School of Health and Related Research before starting her PhD. Ana's Master of Public Health dissertation consisted of a photovoice project investigating the physical and social drivers influencing dietary behaviours of women and adolescent girls living in two urban cities in Ghana.
PhD project focus:
Ana's PhD project will focus on the double burden of malnutrition in slums in Kenya as her research interests lie within Global Public Health Nutrition and include:
- The double burden of malnutrition,
- Women, children and adolescents’ health,
- Sustainable nutrition surveillance systems and the use of technology,
- Micronutrient deficiencies,
- Food environment, and
- Community-based participatory research.
