Electrification Ready Reckoner

Research Group Activity

As our society continues to grow, transformation in the twin pillars of energy and mobility is required to create sustainable environments. The electrification of transport is shaping that low carbon future. Our research focuses on establishing advanced hybrid and electrical vehicles, battery technology, thermal management and modelling across multiple sectors.

Project Description

Electrification is now mainstream in automotive as plug-in and electric vehicles are offered by almost all manufacturers. However, in other transport sectors considerable questions remain regarding electrification. The aim of this project is to generate and refine a Ready Reckoner tool across multiple sectors to be able to quickly and efficiently answer such questions as "is a battery the correct choice for my application?", "should I consider a hybrid?", "how big does my battery need to be?", "do I need energy cells or power cells?" etc. It is important that the user of this tool can use it quickly and easily and with no specialised simulation knowledge.

Required Skills

Some programming experience (the tool will be in Excel using VBA)
An interest in electric vehicles
A positive approach to problem solving
