As the PPMC (Project, Planning Management & Control) module is in high demand, and as it runs in a slightly different way to other modules, we have created a set of Frequently Asked Questions to help you.

How is the PPMC Module delivered?

How does the PPMC module work?

PPMC is delivered in 4 segments. We have created a flow diagram to help you with this.

Assessments

What are the assessment elements for the module?

There are 3 assessment elements:

Online Test – this determines if you are permitted to continue on to attend the full module.

Post Module Assignment (PMA) – this is an independent piece of work which you will complete after the module has taken place, and you will usually have 12 weeks to complete this

APM Exam – This exam takes place one week after the end of the module, and is a professional project management qualification associated with the module.

What is the pass mark for each assessment?

The results of the online test are determined using a number of factors, and is an academic decision.

The Pass mark for the PMA is 50, and the Pass mark for the APM exam is 55.

Can I look at previous test papers for the online test?

In readiness for the online test, the Module Tutor will send you a link to some practice questions.

What is the word limit for my Post Module Assignment?

This will be outlined in the PMA question, which you will be provided with during the module week itself.

What happens if I don’t pass or submit all of the assessment elements?

  • You should always aim to complete and pass each assessment element for the module.
  • If you fail the online test, you will not be permitted to continue onto the rest of the module.
  • If you do not pass your PMA, then you will be given a fail mark. If you do not submit a PMA, then you will be given a mark of 0 and your department will be cross-charged for this.
  • If you do not pass the APM exam, you will not be awarded the professional qualification associated with this exam. It is possible to resit the examination, however you must make your own arrangements directly with the APM.
  • If you fail to attend the exam, without extenuating circumstances, then you will not be permitted to resit the exam.

Support for Learning Difficulties and Disabilities

I have a specific learning difficulty or disability, what support is available to me?

The University is able to offer reasonable adjustments to students with disabilities in order to support you, following an assessment of your needs, however this must be completed prior to you joining the module. We’d therefore recommend that at your earliest opportunity you contact our Disability Services department directly and they will advise how an assessment can be completed.

Attendance at the Module

What are the attendance requirements for the module?

The Induction and Online Test segments are completed online, in your own time. You do not need to attend University to participate in these two segments.

The taught element of the module is delivered over a 5 day intensive course, beginning at 08:30 on the Monday and finishing at around 17:00 on the Friday. You will be provided with Joining Instructions closer to the date of the module.

You are also required to attend the APM examination which is 3 hours in length.

The PMA (Post-Module Assignment) is also completed in your own time.

I’ve already taken the module but I failed or did not complete one or more parts of the assessment. Can I attend again as a refresher?

Each delegate list for each running of the module is checked against previous attendance lists to ascertain if delegates have attended previously. PPMC is an extremely popular module with long waitlists; you therefore will not be able to attend the module again if you have already done so.

I’m not able to attend all or part of the module and its various components. Can I swap my place with my colleague?

The PPMC module is extremely popular and has a waiting list which can sometimes run into several months. Therefore, if you are not able to attend, please let us know at tas@warwick.ac.uk so that we can assign your place to the next person on the waiting list.

I can attend the APM exam date but I’m not able to attend the module week. Am I allowed to do this?

Unfortunately not. You must take all elements/segments of the module as they are all required for completion of the module. If you aren’t able to attend or engage with all elements of the module, then you must let us know and we can remove you from the delegate list for that particular running. You can then return to the waiting list to attend dates which you are able to make.

Are refreshments available during the module week?

Yes. Tea and coffee is available, but in an effort to improve our environmental impact, WMG does not provide disposal cups so you’ll need to bring your own mug or cup.
