Are you studying an MA in ELT/ TEFL / TESL / TESOL in UK?
Are you wondering what difference this will make to your future?
Would you like to meet MA students from other universities, network and share your experiences?
If so, read on!
If you are a postgraduate student you are probably in the last stages of your final piece of work, the dissertation. IATEFL and Applied Linguistics (University of Warwick) would like to invite you to an event where you can share what you have found out in your research with other students also at the same stage in their career from all over UK.

The event (IATEFL MA ELT Pecha Kucha Style Day) will take place at the University of Warwick on 15th August 2017. A Pecha Kucha Style event means that every presenter gives a VERY SHORT (5 minute) summary of their topic (your dissertation research) using a maximum of 15 PowerPoint slides, which automatically move on every 20 seconds (you can see how to do this in the video below). You should focus mainly on why you chose the topic, how you researched it and what you discovered (if you have reached that stage, what you expect to find if not) - no literature review needed. We realise you may not have finalised your conclusion - this is a chance to discuss your findings and get some feedback before submission.

Please watch this video by Jo Gakonga for a demonstration of how to make a Pecha Kucha ...

The cost of the day is £10 to attend with a discounted rate of £6 for 'Pecha Kucha' style presenters which will include refreshments throughout the day but not lunch (there will be plenty of time and options for food at lunchtime or you could bring a packed lunch).

Please upload your PowerPoint file here. Once uploaded you will get a code for your presenter's discount.

Please register and pay on the IATEFL website.

If you have any questions about the day please e-mail tilly dot harrison at warwick dot ac dot uk

In the afternoon, Jo Gakonga will reflect on her own journey from teacher to MA student to current situation, giving you a chance to ask questions and clarify your own future plans.

We look forward to a dynamic and exciting day!

Map to A1.11

The room is A0.23, Social Sciences Building

The Social Sciences Building is somewhat like a maze so the best way to find A0.23 is to make your way to the main entrance to the building (there is a cafe on the ground floor). From the lobby look out of the door towards the circular courtyard that has some disabled partking spaces around the edge. Directly opposite you (across the courtyard) you will see some steps and a set of sliding doors. Go through those doors and A0.23 will be straight ahead of you. Coffee and tea will be available in the lobby area.
