28th - 30th June 2021 | Online
University of Warwick
This interdisciplinary conference is a successful tradition at Warwick Applied Linguistics. Every year, it brings together many students (Undergraduates, Masters and PhDs) from within and outside the UK, studying various degrees, such as Linguistics, Business, Psychology, Politics, etc.
Being a ‘conference by students for students’, we aim to provide a platform for undergraduates, postgraduates and recent graduates to showcase their research and receive valuable feedback from other renowned scholars in the field. It is a great opportunity for participants to get in touch with leading scholars in the field and students from various disciplinary backgrounds.
This year, WICAL will be held online and we look forward to welcoming even more scholars, presenters, and attendants from across the world.
Updates on conference workshops and speakers are coming soon.
- Discourse Analysis
e.g. gender, humour, identity, Critical Discourse Analysis
- English and other language(s) teaching
e.g. methodology, teacher development, technology-based pedagogy, low resources/difficult settings
- Intercultural Communication
e.g. politeness theory, social media research, intercultural training/coaching, social and cross-cultural psychology
This year’s special topic is “Crossing Boundaries” and we especially encourage submissions that address the above themes in innovative ways – crossing the boundaries of disciplines, research methods, and analytical frameworks.
