Introduction

I am a second year PhD student in the Centre for Education Studies at the University of Warwick. My research is supervised by Sue Johnston-Wilder and Elisabeth Arweck. Before I started my PhD degree I studied a BSc (Hons) in English and Psychology. More recently in 2014 I have completed an MA in Social Research at the University of Birmingham.

Research Study

My PhD research study explores the experiences, motivations, psychological well-being, and the development of character virtues, of adults that participate in voluntary work. The study focuses on UK volunteering by exploring a national mental health organisation that is run entirely by volunteers. Also, the study uses a mixed methods approach; questionnaires and semi-structured interviews are used to collect data. I am interested in the character virtues and psychological well-being of volunteers.

Work Experience

I have worked in several voluntary organisations. I am currently a volunteer at a mental health charity helping with Fundraising.
